Immense, yet approachable, the 1997 Leoville-Las Cases has a black color with dark reddish tones, a cassis, wild mushroom and mineral nose and richly textured dark fruit, leather and chocolate flavors that literally burst upon the palate; a 2nd growth Saint Julien wine, Chateau Leoville-Las Cases often tastes more like a Pauillac 1st growth wine and has performed as well as any wine in Bordeaux over the past 30 years.
Serve at 18℃, this is a great wine that needs hours of breathing and will reward more aging; matches well with Prime Steaks or rich meat stews.
18 months in new French oak.
25+ years.
