Fresh and medium-bodied, this exhilarating well-balanced wine features a deep purple-garnet red color, pleasant nose of cream and lots of red fruit, intense flavors of red fruits, oak with hints of vanilla and licorice, and a slightly bitter, spicy finish; started and supported by Margherita d’Austria since 1582, the time-honored Farnese is now still making some of the most prestigious wines from Abruzzo.
Allow about 30 minutes for breathing and serve at 18℃, best with meat and cheese, this wine is also a good companion with traditional Chinese dishes, such as Sweet & Sour Spareribs and Braised Pork with Red Rice.
8 months in 60% American and 40% French oak barrels.
Can be cellared for 3 - 5 years.
