Lovely single variety interpretation of this notoriously late ripening grape. The wine has a deep black-dark red color, aromas of dried fruit, licorice and mint; robust tastes of stewed and preserved fruits, figs and chocolate with a lasting, palate-coating tannic finish. With a range of high quality wines, Bodega Vistalba is owned by Carlos Pulenta who made his name as the president of the prestigious Salentein winery.
Allow 30+ minutes for breathing and serve at 16℃; nice with grilled or roasted meats; also a fine companion to Sichuan style tea smoked duck.
19 months in French oak barrels followed by 6 months bottle aging.
Quite approachable now and is best enjoyed over the next 5 - 7 years.
