Nice expression of the distinctive Piedmont variety Barbera. This wine is dark red-purple, with a lively nose of raspberry and cherry, and a typical Barbera palate of red currants with a touch of smokiness in the finish. The wine exhibits some of the tart and refreshing qualities of a white wine and is truly Italian in personality. Established in 1881, Pio Cesare is a family run winery that produces some of Piedmont's most admired red wines.
Decant for at least 15 minutes and serve at 15℃; matches well with a variety of meat dishes, but also goes beautifully with grilled or baked salmon and cod; try with Shanghai style braised pork in soy sauce.
Light oak aging.
