Another excellent age-worthy wine from Yalumba. The 2008 wine has a deep ruby-red color with a hint of purple; scents of black berries, plum, black currant, violet and soil and flavors of blackberry, black cherry, subtle spicy herbs and hawthorn with quite round, fine tannins and a licorice and mint finish. Established in 1849, Yalumba is the oldest family-operated winery in Australia and a landmark for Barossa wines.
Allow 1+ hour for breathing and serve at 16 - 18℃; matches well with grilled steak, aged cheese and other strong-flavored foods; try with Beijing style spiced lamb skewers.
22 months in French and American oak.
2 - 15 years.
