Le Poiane is a limited edition Valpolicella wine available for $660. 1997 was a great vintage and this wine offers a very good Italian wine drinking experience.
Comment
The 1997 Le Poiane, Valpolicella was aged for two years in oak casks then aged an additional year in the bottle before being released. The care in making this wine is apparent in the wine's fine ruby red color and peppery fruit bouquet. The wine offers flavors of spicy cherries and a pleasant tart finish. As a "Classico" wine, Le Poiane is more full-bodied and rich than most Valpolicella wines. Serve this wine with BBQ Chicken, Meat or Cheese Raviolli and Deep Fried Fontina Cheese. This wine also matches nicely with Chinese Style Beef Stew, Taiwanese Style Three Cup Rabbit and Shanghainese Loin's Head Meatballs. Serve this wine slightly chilled, about 16 C°.

In the mid 1800s, Abele Bolla opened the Al Gambero Inn in the town of Soave. His homemade wines became quite popular with guests. Soon he was spending more time making wines than managing his inn. Today, Bolla is one of Italy's most successful wine makers and exporters. The company offers a wide range of traditional Italian and new variety wines.
