Wow, this is a very good wine that offers all the characteristics one looks for in a Chianti Classico. The wine has intense well-structured fruit and tannin flavors. At slightly over $600 it's a must buy for Chianti lovers.
This wine exhibits a great deal of refinement for a moderately priced wine. The 1997 vintage was quite hot and Antinori was able to pick early and avoid October rains. This resulted in a better wine. The medium body and soft, slightly spicy fruit flavors of the wine are balanced with gentle tannins. The wine has a very pleasant roundness in the mouth and fairly long finish. All Chianti Classico Reserva wines must be aged for at least three years before release. The time and care in making this wine have resulted in a very fine wine. Match this wine with a wide variety of western style meats dishes including Roasted Leg of Lamb, Rack of Lamb, Roasted Pork Loin and Roasted Herb Chicken. The wine also matches nicely with roasted and stewed meat dishes of Northern China. Serve this wine about 18 C°.
26 generations of the Antinori family have been producing wines in the Tuscany region since 1385. Today, Antinori is probably the best-known Italian wine maker. They offer a wide range of wines from inexpensive good drinking wines to some of the world's greatest wines.
