This award-winning, typically robust St. Estephe wine is the only 1993 Bordeaux wine in our book.
1993 was only a fair vintage but Chateau La Haye turned out a real winner. This little known, but well respected chateau has a reputation for exceeding expectations. 1993 wine deep mahogany-red color and complex spicy bouquet. The full body and concentrated refined fruit flavors of this wine is what you would expect of a very good St. Estephe wine. Young St. Estephe wines can be sharp and aggressive but this wine has already shed much of its tannins leaving a very smooth and round drinking experience. Match this wine with Roast Beef, Roasted Pigeon and Double-cut Grilled Ribeye Steak. Serve this wine at 18 ℃.
First planted in 1557, Chateau La Haye has been in the same family for over 400 years. Reputed to have once been the hunting lodge of Henry II and Diane de Poitiers, this is a historic winery that has won numerous awards dating back to 1776. The 1993 wine featured in this book won the prestigious gold medal at the Concours General Agricole competition.
