This Bordeaux style wine is a very well crafted, hearty and macho Australian wine for only $1,200.
The wine has a super deep, rich purple-red color and spicy fruit bouquet. This concentrated wine is pleasantly round in the mouth and offers black current and ripe plum flavors. Solid, yet soft tannins balance the fruitiness of the wine. The wine has definitely benefited from age and will drink very nicely for several years. Match this wine with hearty pasta dishes like Fettuccine in Truffle Cream Sauce and Tagliatelle with Duck Confit and Wild Mushroom. This wine also pairs well with most red meat dishes. Serve this wine about 18 ℃.
Leeuwin Estate is a boutique; family owned and operated winery located in the Margaret River District of Western Australia. Acting as a friend and consultant, Robert Mondavi, identified the future site (originally a cattle ranch) of the Leeuwin vineyard in 1972. Featuring state-or-the art facilities, the winery building was opened in 1978, celebrating with a trial vintage.
