For Bordeaux red wines, the 1998 vintage was good to very good. The summer was hot and dry, but there was modest rainfall during harvest. Many Chateaus in Margaux, including Larruau picked early to avoid dilution. The 1998 Ch. Larruau has a deep brooding color with a cedary and smoky bouquet. The wine is rich with dark berries flavors that are balanced with solid tannins. Enjoy this medium to full-bodied wine with classic French meat dishes including Roasted Leg of Lamb, "Pot au Feu" (boiled beef) and steak with "Bordelaise" (red wine and bone marrow) sauce, as well as more delicate Chinese meat dishes.
