Often considered the poor brother of the three Leovilles (Leoville Las Cases, Leoville-Barton & Leoville-Ponferre), this St. Julien chateau made good wines that were overshadowed by its Leoville brothers. New investment and the talents of winemaker Michel Rolland have resulted in better wines. The 1997 vintage wine is ready for drinking now. The wine features a rich red-purple color and elegant bouquet. This medium bodied wine is not a power wine but is quite graceful with delicious dark fruit flavors and well-structure tannins. For a young wine its quite soft and round in the mouth. Pair this wine with Saut缥d Calves Liver, Entrecote Bordelaise and Roasted Stuffed Pork Loin. Serve at 18 C.
