From the Rhone's most famous big producer comes an impressive deep-colored and powerful wine. The color of the wine is dark purple-red. It offers an earthy bouquet of ripe dark fruits and spices and concentrated flavors of plums, dark berries, black pepper and exotic spices. It is almost chewy in texture and after nearly two years in oak there's a definite oaky character to this wine - a common characteristic of Guigal wines. This wine matches very nicely with wild game dishes, hearty stews as well as most intensely flavored and spicy meat dishes. I suggest this wine be opened at least 90 minutes before drinking. Serve at 18 C.
