Luscious Southern Rhone wine from vines averaging nearly 50 years old, this wine has a dark garnet red color, nose of cassis, dark chocolate and spices and flavors of black berries, leather and truffles; this big wine needs at least an hour of breathing; match with wild fowl and other stewed or roasted game dishes as well as with well-aged cheeses; located in the northeast of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape AC, Chateau de Beaucastel dates back to 1549; replanted in 1909 the chateau produces some of the most prized and expensive wines of the Southern Rhone.
