Despite an outrageous price tag, this gorgeous 2000 Barbaresco is worth the financial splurge; the wine features a dark garnet red color, intriguing nose of chocolate, black cherries, licorice and tobacco and multi layered dark fruit, leather and exotic spice flavors with a very long finish; this elegant Barbaresco wine can be enjoyed now but will benefit from more age; match with white meats with sauces and grilled red meats; since Angelo Gaja took over the family business, Gaja's wide range of Piedmont and now also Tuscan wines have become among the world's most prized and expensive wines.
