Once one of the bargains of Pomerol, this is now a very expensive wine, but the 1998 Trotanoy is one of the best right bank wines of the past few decades with very dark ruby red color, ripe black cherry and mocha nose and very rich concentrated flavors of dark fruit, coffee, oak and even truffles; for a great wine that will continue to age very well, this wine is tasting very nicely now with soft tannins and excellent complexity; match with elegant meat dishes; Chateau Trotanoy is a neighbor of Chateau Petrus and also owned by the Moueix family; the chateau benefits from very old vines and has a reputation for making elegant and powerful wines.
