Excellent Pessac-Leognan chateau that often flies under the radar, Chateau La Tour Haut-Brion is a consistently good wine; the 1999 vintage features a purple-red color, mineral and dark berries nose and delicious combination of earthy black fruit and spices and the chateau's classic smoky finish; match with hearty meat stews or grilled meats; since 1983 this 12 acre estate has belonged to the Dillon family, owners of Chateau Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut Brion; Chateau La Tour Haut-Brion makes top red wines famous for their smoky quality that are still relatively reasonably priced.
