While still excellent quality, Gaja's Super Tuscan wines are only a fraction of the cost of their Piedmont wines and therefore can be considered relatively good values; the 2001 Magari Toscana has a dark ruby red color, black berries and black cherry nose and very pleasing combination of dark fruit and spice flavors with a hint of tobacco and oak; the finish is quite long and a little spicy; match with roasted pork, wild boar and roasted game fowl; since Angelo Gaja took over the family business, Gaja's wide range of Piedmont and now also Tuscan wines have become among the most prized and expensive wines in the world.
