The 1999 Cignale is an excellent single vineyard Super Tuscan wine with a brooding purple-crimson red color, expressive nose of dark fruit, spices and oak and concentrated flavors of cassis, black berries with nuances of leather and tobacco; the wine is quite weighty and round in the mouth and needs at least two hours breathing; match with wild boar and other roasted game; owned and managed by the dynamic Alessandro Francois whose French ancestors settled in Tuscany in 1897, Castello di Querceto is an award-winning Tuscan producer of good value traditional Chianti and Chianti Classico wines as well as modern style Super Tuscans.
