Skillfully made blend of four red wine varieties from the excellent 2001 vintage, the wine has a dark purple-garnet red color, pleasant nose of dark berries, cocoa and oak and flavors of cassis, leather and coffee; this is a full-bodied wine with a long round tannic finish; founded in 1981 in the Dunnigan Hills AVA, R. H. Philips offers a range of reasonably-priced, well-made white and red wines.

Allow 30 minutes for breathing and serve at 18˚C; match with hearty meat stews, roasts, grilled steaks and lamb chops as well as Korean BBQ meats.

12 months in French & American oak.

The wine is drinking nicely now and will be at its peak for at least another five years.
