As a rule, the second wines of the great chateaus have become prized items and as a result over-priced, however, the second wine of 2nd growth Chateau Rauzan-Segla remains a good value and delicious second label wine; the 1998 Segla is wonderfully mature medium-bodied wine that's still in its prime with a medium dark brick red color, dark fruit and oriental spices nose and black berries flavors and supple tannins; this is an elegant wine that should be enjoyed now; match with a wide variety of fowl including roasted chicken or goose; Chateau Rauzan-Segla is one of the oldest chateaus in Margaux that returned to form with their excellent 1983 vintage after years of neglect; the property has been owned by Chanel since 1994.
