One of the most consistently good Australian red wines, this reasonably-priced premium wine has a dark purple color with reddish hue, spicy red and dark fruit nose and plum, chocolate, tobacco and oak flavors and very nice smooth tannic finish; the three Rhone Valley varieties (Grenache, Shiraz & Mourvedre) give the wine a spicy character; a hearty wine best enjoyed with roasted meats or rich meat stews or slightly spicy Asian meat dishes; started by coffee trader Bob Oatley in 1969, Rosemount is now part of the Southcorp Group (along with Penfolds, Lindemans, etc.) and considered one of Australia's top red wine producers.
