The 2001 Gigondas "Les Hauts de Montmirail" from Domaine Brusset reaffirms the producer's reputation as one of the very best producers of the Southern Rhone; this wine has a very dark purple-black color with reddish hue, a lively nose of ripe red fruit and spices and nicely concentrated ripe black fruit, sweet black cherry and chocolate flavors; this is a typically heady and robust Gigondas wine with solid tannins and an impressively long finish; match with roasted or grilled game, game stews or other flavorful meats and cheeses; for over half a century Domaine Brusset has been setting standards in the Southern Rhone using a combination of traditional and modern techniques to make some of the world's finest Gigondas wines.
