2001 was a challenging vintage in Victoria for red wines but Toolleen Vineyard made an excellent Shiraz wine; the wine features a deep purple-red color, pungent dark berries and cassis nose and smooth and concentrated dark fruit and cocoa flavors with a nice touch of spice; this is a round and generous wine in the mouth with a lasting smooth tannic finish; match with roasted or grilled meats and slightly spicy Chinese and Asian meat dishes; established in 1996, Toolleen is a new Victoria producer that has already build a very good reputation for high-quality red wines.
