Elegant and earthy, the wine features a mature ruby red color with brownish hue that hints at its age, expressive bouquet of red fruits, leather and exotic spices and exciting flavors of blackberry, plum and toasty oak with a satisfyingly long finish; since the 1970 vintage wines were first released in 1975, El Coto de Rioja has been winning acclaim from wine connoisseurs and critics for their excellent, oaky red wines.
Allow 20 minutes for breathing and serve at 18˚C; match this aromatic wine with grilled and roasted red meats, especially lamb, pungent semi-hard and hard cheeses as well as Szechuan style pig intestines, pig's blood and bean curd in spicy sauce.
24 months in American oak and 36 months of bottle aging.
This wine is drinking beautifully now and can be cellared for another 5+ years.
