Excellent representation of the Carignan variety from Languedoc-Roussillon, this wine features deep brick red color that hints at the wines maturity, very aromatic spicy dark fruit nose with hints of violet, smooth generous flavors of black berries and cherries and a smooth tannic finish; this mellow wine is an excellent effort in a vintage that only the best producers achieved such good results.
Allow 30 minutes for breathing and serve 16℃; while younger Fitou wines are perfect with cold meats and white meat dishes, a mature Fitou like this wine matches best with red meats, game and pungent cheeses.
Aging 12 months in French oak.
This 2002 wine is perfect now or should be consumed within 3 years.
