Since 1986 the excellent second wine of Chateau Pichon Longueville has been one of the best second wines in Bordeaux offering a lighter, more approachable version of the great 2nd growth wine; this wine has deep ruby garnet red color, classic Bordeaux black currant nose with touch of oak and well-balance flavors of preserved fruit, cherries with a little spiciness and long round tannic finish.
Allow at least 40 minutes for breathing and serve at 18˚C; a fine Pauillac red like this is great with most red meats and especially roasted leg or rack of lamb as well as Xinjiang Roasted Lamb.
18 months in French oak.
Drinking nicely now, will improve over the next 5 years and can be kept for 15 years.
