First made in the legendary 1974 Napa vintage, this is one of world's most respected expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2006 wine has a dark ruby to black color, with powerful nose of cassis, violet and spices, and concentrated, multi-layered flavors of blackberry and dark chocolate with cedar notes and an impressively long tannic finish. The winery was established in 1970 by Warren Winiarski and today makes three of Napa's most venerated red wines: Cask 23, S.L.V. and FAY, along with a range of other quality wines.
Decant for 90 minutes and serve at 18℃; ideally keeping things simple and serving with well-marbled U.S. Prime steaks.
24 months in French oak.
Approachable now but still evolving, this wine can be cellared for 25+ years.
