Sourced from the Stagecoach, Waters Ranch & Rancho Chimiles vineyards, this is an exceptional wine showcasing the best of Napa power and old world elegance. The wine has a dark purple color, rich aromas of blackberry and dark chocolate and concentrated black fruit and cocoa flavors with a smooth and palate-coating tannic finish. Established in 1972 by Jayson Pahlmeyer and John Caldwell with the mission of making balanced, Bordeaux style wines, Pahlmeyer Wines is now one of the new world's most respected producers.
Decant for 60 - 90 minutes and serve at 18℃; a perfect partner for U.S. Prime steak, preferably a New York or rib eye, but other flavorful cuts with good marbling are also great; the wine also pairs well with beef or lamb stews.
18 months in French oak, 80% new, plus bottle aging.
Approachable now, but will evolve for another 5+ years and can be cellared for 20+ years.
