This enthusiastic red wine meant to be enjoyed young. The 2011 wine has a deep ruby-red color with purple reflection, gentle aromas of smoke, blueberry, plum and violet; rich flavors of black cherry, blueberry, hawthorn and plum with lively notes of spicy orange peel and licorice with smooth tannic finish. Winemaker and owner François Collard, formerly a winemaker at Château Lafite Rothschild, is one of the world's ten best winemakers according to Robert Parker and has made Château Mourgues du Gres a new star in the southern Rhône.
Allow 20 - 30 minutes for breathing and serve at 14 - 16℃; a fine companion with BBQ game or meats seasoned with spices, such as rosemary lamb chops, roasted hare and wild fowl; try with Cantonese style roasted pigeon.
Aged 1 year in epoxy-lined concrete tanks.
Drink now or within 18 months.
