This is a very concentrated, full-bodied red wine with a typical robust California style. At just over $600, it's a big wine at a small price.
If you enjoy deep, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the New World style, this is a good wine for you. Gallo, in general, and the Coastal Vineyards series of wine, in particular, have made very good progress over the past decade. This wine is one of the company's better inexpensive wines. The wine is intensely fruity with volumes of black berry and even blueberry flavors. The tannins are nicely developed and give the wine more of a quality taste. This wine matches well with most meats, especially large roasted meats like Roast Beef, Leg of Lamb and Roast Pork Loin with Pan Sauce. Serve this wine slightly below room temperature, about 16℃.
E & J Gallo is the largest single producer of wines in the world. 70 years ago this Italian-American family started making wines in Sonoma, California. For many years the name Gallo was associated with cheap fruity, low-cost wines. Over the past 10-15 years the company has improved the quality of their wines and reputation.
