At only $1,500, this wine is a must for lovers of Pomerol. The deep, rich wine with refined plum flavors will please even discriminating Pomerol drinkers.
This wine has an excellent dark red color and very open bouquet. Within five minutes of opening the wine is already offering an abundance of fruit and spice scents. The wine offers plum, cherry and leather flavors with very soft tannins. The wine is quite round in the mouth and has a long rich finish. Overall this is quite an impressive wine. Match this wine with Venison Steak, Roasted Pheasant and Dunk Confit. This wine also goes nicely with Beijing Duck but one must go light on the Plum Sauce. Serve this wine at 18 ℃.
Chateau Bourgneuf is located on the western side of a high plateau in Pomerol in the midst of the Grand Cru wines. The 22-acre gravely soil is mixed with sand, an ideal combination for Pomerol wines. This is a small (only about 5000 cases per year) lesser known Chateau whose wines are of excellent value and of consistently high quality. Chateau Bourgneuf is owned by Charles Vayron.
