Bruno Cerretto is one of Italy's most highly regarded wine producers. Cerretto's Barolo from the Bricco Rocche vineyard is his top Barolo and recognized as one of Italy's top red wines. This wine is famous for its heady concentration of black cherry, truffles, leather and spicy herb flavors. This is a very big and aromatic wine, a fine example of traditional Italian winemaking. 1996 was one of the best vintages for the Piedmont region in the last 25 years. Barolo wines were especially impressive in this vintage. The Ceretto Barolo Bricco Rocche, 1999, is a great wine to match with an elegant Piedmont dishes like White Truffle Risotto, Stewed Veal Tongue or Roasted Capon. This wine is also an excellent match with Whole Roasted Baby Lamb, Roman style and other roasted Italian meat dishes.
