Ignoring the mainstream feeling that the Tannat grape is too harsh and powerful as a single variety in a modern styled wine, Alain Brumont has created a stunning wine with his 1995 Chateau Montus "Cuvee Prestige". The world's wine press has hailed this wine as one of the best wines of the 1995 vintage from all of France. 100% new oak from the ancient Troncay Forest is used to soften the natural aggressiveness of this wine. This super concentrated wine has a dark, brooding purple-garnet red color. After 30 minutes of breathing the spicy chocolate and tobacco and dark fruit bouquet becomes very intense. One literally has to chew one's way through this delicious wine full of exotic dark fruit, spice and oak flavors. This wine is best enjoyed with hearty meat dishes including Whole Roasted Sirloin, Roasted Leg of Lamb Scented with Garlic and U.S. Bison Steaks. Serve this wine at 18 C°.
