With their new Chenin Blanc wine, Sunrise Ridge has come out with another low budget winner. Sharing many of the qualities (intense aroma, lively fruitiness, dry almost spicy finish) of the much more famous and admittedly superior Chenin Blanc wines from the Loire Valley; the Sunrise Ridge, Chenin Blanc, 2002 is a very fun wine with a decidedly Chenin Blanc character. The bright pale yellow color and exuberant fruity and spicy nose are quite pleasing. In the mouth, the very fruity nature of the wine is quite apparent and starts out almost a little sweet then finishes dry and spicy. It's a entertaining rather than serious wine. At home I often drink this wine as an aperitif as I cook pouring a splash over the roasting chicken or into the white wine cream sauce for my sauteed sole. This wine matches nicely with most seafood and light dishes. Serve this wine nicely chilled at 8℃.
