Considered one of the most perfect Bordeaux wines in the last century, the 1961 Petrus is pure opulence. The wine after over four decades has reached its peak but if stored well will last another decade or two. Superlatives are overused in the wine world but this wine lives up to hype. Drinking Chateau Petrus 1961 is an experience of a lifetime and a wine memory you won't forget. The color is a mature dark red and the bouquet offers a symphony of delicious dark fruit, spices and other scents. In the mouth, the wine explodes with numerous layers of very ripe fruit and subtle mineral flavors. The finish, in terms of depth and length, is extraordinary. This wine matches well the very best quality dry-aged Prime beef and lamb dishes that simply prepared. Serve this wine at 18 C.
