Chateau Latour is the most consistent Bordeaux wines, even in difficult years; the 1989 wine is a huge wine with a very youthful black-purple color, a complex nose of dark fruit, chocolate, coffee and spices and very concentrated flavors of elegant berries and minerals; the wine is weighty in the mouth and is explosively flavorful in the mid palate with a long tannic finish; formerly British owned, Chateau Latour was purchased by French businessman Francois Pinault who has renovated the winery and cellars; over the past century Chateau Latour has been the most consistently great Bordeaux wine.
Serve at 18℃, and allow 1.5 hours for breathing; the wine matches well with red meat roasts or Prime Steaks and lamb chops.
18 months in new French oak.
25+ years.
