From one of Australia's most historic producers, this wine is another example of how successful the Shiraz grape is in Australia. At just a little over $500 it’s definitely worth a try.
This medium-bodied wine offers plenty of spicy Shiraz flavors. The wine has dark fruit, chocolate and pepper flavors balanced with well-developed soft tannins. The 12 months this wine spent in American Oak has provided a roundness and smoothness that's impressive for an inexpensive wine. Soft tannins and a decently long finish help make this a very nice casual drinking wine. The wine matches well with most meat and cheese dishes and goes particularly well with spicy Mexican and Szechuan dishes. Serve this wine slightly chilled, about 16℃.
In 1828, Englishman George Wyndham first planted vines along the Hunter River in New South Wales. Two years later he planted his first Shiraz vines. Since these early beginnings, Wyndham Estate wines have been winning awards in Australia and worldwide. The company produces a wide range of good value and premium wines.
