2007 was an excellent vintage in Napa and the Cabernet Sauvignon from Mondavi is a fine effort with deep purple-garnet red color, lively cassis and blueberry nose and abundant dark berries, sweet spice and mocha flavors; the tannins are quite substantial but mellow nicely with 30 minutes of breathing; the Bordeaux style blend of varieties gives the wine added complexity and character; once the most important quality producer in the U.S., the Robert Mondavi Winery is now a public company with no involvement by the Robert Mondavi family.
Serve at 18℃; match with beef dishes including roasted sirloin and hearty beef stews.
